Camp GOTR (Girls on the Run) + Service Learning: : During the 4-day camp, rising 3rd 5th grade girls (girls entering 3rd, 4th and 5th grade in the 2025-2026 academic year) will enjoy building friendships and learn life skills in a fun and inclusive setting that includes interactive games, being physically active, and expressing creativity through arts and crafts and storytelling. We will be using the 'Girls have Heart' Curriculum. Throughout the week, girls will have fun exploring friendships with activities designed to discover what makes a good friend and how to be a good friend to others. Girls will move, build, create, write, discuss, connect, and laugh all while participating in games and activities that will leave them feeling confident and appreciated by their teammates. All girls are invited to participate in Camp GOTR, regardless of whether or not they have participated in Girls on the Run during the school year. In the afternoon portion of camp, we will switch our focus to learn more about our community through service learning projects. Service Learning projects are TBD. Junior Lifeguard Camp: Develop leadership skills, build self-confidence, and learn teamwork for a future career as a certified lifeguard. The benefits of the Junior Lifeguarding program include: an introduction to first aid, CPR, and AED skills, hands-on training from head guards and managers, participants will shadow lifeguards with the Sioux Falls City pools, certificate of completion for participants who successfully complete the course. The certificate does not indicate that the person is trained to be a lifeguard, and there is no validity period, peer building with participants that are interested in the aquatics field. Babysitting Camp: In partnership with American Red Cross, boys and girls ages 11 - 15 can participate in this two-day camp to be a certified babysitter. During camp, participants will learn about basic care for infants and children, child behaviors, age-appropriate activities and food, emergency protocols, growing their business and so much more! All campers will receive infant and child CPR and first aid skills and take home a portable first aid kit and other goodies! This camp does not CPR certify anyone.
